Adding hi-viz tape to tools on our work sites to increase safety during winter
months. This is currently in trial.
A portable “endoscope like” device which attaches to a standard BT duct
proving rod. It can be pushed into a duct and uses a camera and light to
identify and locate duct blockages. This is in early development phase.
An excavation mark up stencil that supports safe digging practices and
reduces the risk of service strikes. It enables teams to clearly and consistently
mark-up utility services with stencilled letters to indicate the type of services
present with hatching indicating the width required for safe digging. This is
now commercially available for Morrison Utility Services contracts to
purchase through OptiMUS.
A temporary supply clip attached to a barrier to hold pipework and to reduce
trip hazards on footpaths and the need for sandbagging. Following a review
of current legislation, unfortunately this could not proceed past the
incubation phase, but showed great innovative thinking by Martin.
A spill kit to be kept on any excavator or plant vehicle where there is any risk
of spillage, this would ensure that any potential spill could be contained within
seconds. Currently in discussion with M Group Services Plant & Fleet
Solutions.
Implementation of an “information & contact sheet/card” for drivers to display
in the windscreen of vans when parked up – providing a quick and easy way
to address issues/questions/queries from members of the public therefore
providing good customer service. An idea for adoption on a contract by
contract basis.
A proposal for stand / sit desks to improve the wellbeing of our workforce.
This is in consultation/research and preliminary trial phase.
Inclusion of a Drug & Alcohol Site Sign on our construction sites to provide
a clear message to workers in relation to the Company’s Drug and Alcohol
policy. A workshop to be held to discuss as part of the whole construction
site signage process.
Idea to utilise our company vans as a recruitment advertising billboard. This
idea is being progressed currently with HR Services and M Group Services
Plant & Fleet Solutions.
Trialling a new one man solution “The Man Up Key” - a revolutionary new way
of lifting manholes. Manholes can now be lifted without chiselling or
hammering; even the most stubborn, wedged in manholes.
A solution to outline all utility drawing into one visual OS map view,
especially for large scale capital works. This idea is being evaluated from a
technical perspective.
